AOR Replacement & the Joint Support Ship (Merged Threads)

For my personal info, and it might be interesting for some other people too I guess,  Is operating the Asterix more expensive than using the services of other countries for that kind of stuff?  I mean, obviously, we only have one of these, so we need to ask other countries for supplies on the way?

    New Canadian Shipbuilding Strategy

I've been following the forum and the news for a while... as a civilian, that's what I understand... Canada's part of the arctic ocean is badly served.  CCGS ships are aged and are failing from time to time, and some communities had problems getting supplies last winter.  The 3 Viking ships wont...

    New Canadian Shipbuilding Strategy

I'm no specialist, but since Irving is picking the pace with AOPS, why not a 7th?  it might be too much to call it a "spare" one, but having 3 on each side of the country at all time might be hard, maintenance, refit, problems, the 7th could fit the gap when one is in dry dock?

HMCS Chicoutimi at sea off Korea, CBC story

Very good article!  I think medias should talk more of the roles our navy provide in the world to regular Canadian citizen (like me) so they can understand why Canada need to modernize the fleet... I remember reading about HMCS St-John arriving to Dominica after Hurricane Maria last september to...

    HMCS Sackville will be repaired!

I do get the point of getting them out of the water, they wouldnt need as much money to keep them in good shape, but I can't keep thinking they should make one of the 2 (Sackville or Haida) in working condition, like many navies did with their iconic ships! The Aurora cruiser can still move on...

    Canadian Surface Combatant RFQ

Hi there... new here!  Just an ordinary civilian interested in warships since childhood!  I've been reading this forum for quite a while, following the CSC program very closely as well as the AOR program as well. I have a theory, and I'm far from being an expert... I think Canada might try to...
