More awesomeness from the Liberal cabinet.

This guy is a perfect fit for a human rights chief.

'Terror is not an irrational strategy': Incoming human rights commissioner lectured about violence

Birju Dattani made earlier statements appearing to rationalize terrorism and signed a letter accusing Israel of seeking to 'terrorize the civilian population' of Gaza

Terror is good, unless it's Israel then it's bad.

In August 2014, Dattani also signed an open letter that was drafted by Richard Falk, the former United Nations Special Rapporteur for the Palestinian Territories. The letter condemned Israel’s military operation against Hamas in 2014 that was sparked after the terror group kidnapped and burned alive three hitchhiking teenagers.

If the kids didn't want to be burned alive they shouldn't have been hitchhiking in the first place.

Another solid Liberal pick.

Well, while it may be rational for the underdogs/outnumbered, but it sure ain't moral - especially to the collaterally damaged :( Oh, wait, wait, wait, this seems to cover it ....
... Terror is good, unless it's Israel then it's bad ...
More patronage done in a sterling manner ... 🤦‍♂️

The federal government now says Birju Dattani, the new head of the Canadian Human Rights Commission, did disclose the alias he used to make controversial social media posts — after it initially claimed that information was never shared before he was hired.

Justice Minister Arif Virani's spokesperson confirms that Dattani did pass on the alias to "public servants as part of the security assessment of Mr. Dattani." The minister's press secretary, Chantalle Aubertin, added that the name was not provided to Virani's office.

The news raises new questions about what the federal government knew — or ought to have known — about Dattani before he was appointed to lead the country's human rights watchdog, the Canadian Human Rights Commission (CHRC).

In June, Dattani was named the CHRC's chief commissioner, making him the first Muslim or racialized person to head the organization.

Shortly after his historic appointment, national Jewish organizations cited what they described as antisemitic social media posts made under the name "Mujahid Dattani" and a controversial appearance on a debate panel in the U.K.

The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) accused Dattani of posting articles on X, formerly Twitter, that compared Israel to Nazi Germany. The posts and Dattani's account appear to have been deleted.

CBC News has not seen the alleged posts. Dattani himself has said he did not compare Israel to Nazi Germany. He said he did share without comment an article comparing the plight of Palestinians to that of prisoners in the Warsaw Ghetto during the Second World War, adding that he didn't agree with the article's argument.

Of ALL the people they could have picked to he head of the Canadian Human Rights Commission, you'd think they could have picked a guy far less controversial...

Almost any level headed professional adult could have filled that position without much media attention.

But instead, they go with this guy...

You would think that they would ask for that as part of their hiring process, not just security screening. I guess 'we didn't think to ask that during the interview' sounded bad.
Cynically, you might think that they knew, told the unnamed junior public servant “don’t worry, we know that…” and figured they’d see if anyone noted, then if someone did, the initial actions would be passively-aggressively note that “someone” knew the info but the Minister and key Departmental bureaucrats weren’t informed, to be (as yet not) followed by a “we note that some information had not been fully distributed through out the ministry’s administration and the appropriate staff members have been counseled on how they must communicate in the future to ensure that the Minister and senior public servants are informed appropriately…” word salad.

The old "tracking 'who' 'knew' 'what' and 'told' 'who'?" shell game, indeed.

I did enjoy when the Department of Corrections had receipts for telling the Minister of Public Safety's senior staffers about Bernardo being transferred, then they had to eat it themselves. Sometimes pays to CYA.

I don't care who said what to who and IF the Minister knew....its a smoke screen.

This A$$Hat they appointed needs to have his appointment rescinded right fucking now - like yesterday.

I guess it was more that they political staffers tried to blame the public servants, and they pulled out the receipts showing that they had briefed them and repeatedly tried to confirm the minister was aware. I can't remember now if one of them 'resigned' but unfortunately stopped at the staffer level.

Normally I'd say we've reached peak absurd, but there's still a year and a bit to go.
