It's been a long time since I saw Das Boot, but I thought the point was that they didn't wear uniform while underway other than the CO's cap.

None of those clothes look particularly "military" other than their caps.

Yeah - Naval uniforms, more so than other branches, are basically copies of the Royal Navy (and maybe the French Navy) now.

I think there is a certain faction in the CAF who want us to wear some grey shapeless smock with no insignia nor possible gender identity cut.
