AEC streams

SATCOs are of the ATC variety, whereas the G3/FAC jobs can go to either.  We split Maj/Capt positions in Edmonton, Pet, Valcartier, Gagetown with the pilots.  The 8ACCS position is ATC, I believe.  However (and someone may correct me), I believe the permanent AEC manning at 8ACCS is minimal - they draw qualified controllers, both IFR and VFR, from other bases when they have a tasking/exercise to go to.  I believe there is a familiarization course with their equipment to qualify IFR or VFR controllers for 8ACCS ops.

CFAWC positions would be staff jobs, and thus open to both sides of the occupation.

Squadron Air Traffic Control Officer - the ATC dude attached to the TacHel sqns (427, 408, etc).

I can confirm everything you offered is indeed correct.

Hey thanks for all the great information and answers guys. Sounds like AEC is certainly an occupation with a good deal of variety and challenges. Cheers

No problem.  In the relatively short time that I've been doing this gig, I will certainly seen it that way.  Plenty of great opportunities, very challenging at times, lots of variety on the horizon.  I enjoy what I do.  If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me.

fwiw, I've recently checked out IFR - and this summer am already slated to OP NANOOK in Resolute Bay

opportunities are abound

Thanks for the quick answer, may I ask what all the other letters represent? Like I see CV and such?
