Can someone explain what skills are taught and what equipment is used in each course for Reserve Armour Recce troops? DP1 Armour Recce Crewman and DP2 Armour Recce Observer. Also,  how much time is spent in the classroom, in the G-wagon and in the field (dismounted)?

My link to Documentum is down, but I will try and give you a thumbnail sketch.

PRes DP 1 Armoured Recce Crewman is something like 20 days long (four weeks) and teaches:

    a.  Drive LUVW (G Wagon)

    b.  Operate Communications

    c.  Identify Armoured Fighting Vehicles

    d.  Armour Role/Doctrine and Royal Canadian Armoured Corps history and traditions

The driving and comms pieces are by far the biggest chunks of the course. A graduate can operate in a LUVW crew, but he really hasn't learned any tactics yet. Bear in mind that PRes DP1 is taken after the SQ (BMQ-L) while the Reg F DP1 has the SQ content embedded in it.

IIRC the PRes DP2 Armoured Recce Crewman (no Reg F course - the Reg F DP1 pretty much covers it) is about two weeks long and covers Armoured Recce tactics from the point of view of a recce crewman in a LUVW patrol (there are a bunch of POs that cover the fundamental recce tasks). I think that you cover some STANO equipment (night vision gear) as well.

Most DP2 courses are run by the units, although I have seen them run in the summer from time to time. I have also seen them conducted OJT with collective training as long as good records are kept and exercises are run a low-level with plenty of time for MCpls and Sgts to stop and teach along the way.

If I un**** my work computer I can give you a more definitive answer on content and times.

Sitting here board on duty and our drive has the TP for the DP2 Armoured Recce Observer.  It is 14 training days and covers the fol POs:
201:  Reconnaissance Operations
202:  Tactical Security Operations
203:  Transitional Operations
204:  Reconnaissance Equipment

I see. Thanks for the posts, Tango2Bravo and dangerboy. It clarified some points for which I did not have answers.
